Spring is really emerging from the dismal days of winter. I have to say that there are some lovely days in winter as well, when one can cosy up with a steaming cup of one’s favourite drink, and perhaps some hot buttered crumpets, and appreciate being warm and safe. This is the best way to be after a crisp winter walk, when hands and faces tingle with the cold and breath hangs, then drifts away in the air.

Yesterday wasn’t a very nice day at all. The weather was dark, dreary, wet and cold, and we had one or two difficult tasks to face, with long waiting times between appointments.
We had a real taste of spring this week. From the very first moment the sun rose over the hills, its light poured into the house, bringing warmth, brightness, and an unmistakable joy to the day.
My week started by getting back to painting after quite a few weeks away.
When we recently had a tremendous cold snap, I discovered a rather beautiful view that immediately felt right for a painting.
